Rewriting history - what are you doing here?

Congratulations on scrolling this far! That's a level of curiosity I admire - why not say hi below. This post never happened on the old blog so no one would have seen it published at this early date; you'd only find it through your own dogged determination. I just felt that the new blog needed a day-one post all of its own.

I occasionally wonder where Esperanto would be if the internet were around when Zamenhof invented it. Would it have exploded given how determined an individual he must have been to spread it as far as he did? Or would it have drowned in an abundance of similar content? I must admit I rarely go looking for other constructed languages these days, but nothing ever felt so natural and enticing as Esperanto to me.

Esperanto has definitely become a feature of me that people know about. I get a special look from friends and colleagues when an unsuspecting new person wonders aloud how the world might better communicate with a common language.

I definitely ought to write more Esperantily though. If I ever do accomplish the dream of writing a fantasy novel I would absolutely want to attempt an Esperanto translation - perhaps with assistance. But I am enjoying playing with the modern AI chat tech for convenient practice (checkout the practice with AI page)

Learning about Esperanto usage and grammar remains a very satisfying experience. It feels like a higher standard than just "that's how natives do it", which speaks to the inner frustration of my younger self as he attempted French & Spanish. So the blog remains a happy outlet indeed, I've enjoyed writing freshness through old posts and generating appropriate artwork, and I'm always happy to receive Esperanto in the comments!
